Moab, UT - Slickrock Trail

I’m a Colorado-based technologist currently working for F5 as a Site Reliability Engineer. I’m a husband, a photographer, a bicycle mechanic, and an avid collector of hobbies.

With this blog I hope to document some of the more interesting things that I spend my time doing in hopes that others may learn from my mistakes, and with any luck keep myself from making them more than once.

Work Stuff

As I briefly mentioned above, I’m currently affiliated with F5 as a Site Reliability Engineer and Hashicorp Vault subject matter expert. I work for our Security and Distributed Cloud (SDC) team, where we build a whole host of security and multi-cloud networking services. Most of my focus is on internal tooling, automation, and secrets management.

Past Work Experience

Previously I’ve worn a few different hats. Most recently I was a DevOps Enginner at Ivanti (formerly Cherwell) working on CI/CD automation. Prior to that I was a Senior DevOps Engineer, DevOps Engineer, and Senior Systems Administrator at Daxko also working on our CI/CD systems and ensuring our deployments were reliable. Finally, before that I worked in the Defense industry at Next Century Corporation (now CACI) as a Senior Systems Administrator and Team Lead.

Personal Stuff

In my spare time I like to call myself an avid cyclist and photographer. Specifically an astrophotographer. Take a look at my space photos on Instagram or Astrobin

Education

Like most people in the field, I’ve learned most of what I know through a career of trial, error, and eventual success, though I did also learn a thing or two through the completion of my BS in Information Technology from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY.
